Luxury brand Gucci will soon offer cryptocurrency as a payment option

We're interested where it takes this fashion leader

Being a fashion innovator and leader, Gucci is no stranger when it comes to fusing technology with fashion. Recently, the company bought virtual land from The Sandbox, a virtual world where players can buy, develop, and sell virtual real estate.  This space will contain its “Gucci Vault” platform, which is an umbrella for the fashion house’s metaverse-related projects.  Alongside their push in the metaverse, the iconic brand will now be offering cryptocurrency as a payment option. This will be available by the end of May and will be offered at select Gucci outlet stores, including the ones in Los Angeles, Miami, Las Vegas, and New York. There are plans to expand this service to directly-operated North America stores in the near future, before eventually rolling it out across all of its stores.

Gucci Metaverse

Gucci through the years

Born in 1921, the brand has indeed made its mark with its iconic designs like the Gucci Diana and Gucci Jackie as well as popular ambassadors like EXO, Harry Styles, and Jared Leto.

Its ability to foray into new innovations and relate itself to popular culture is something that makes the brand ever relevant.

“Gucci is always looking to embrace new technologies when it can provide an enhanced experience for its customers.

Now that we are able to integrate cryptocurrencies within our payment system, it is a natural evolution for those customers who would like to have this option available to them,” said Marco Bizzarri, Gucci president and CEO.

What do you think of the Gucci cryptocurrency move?

If everything goes smoothly, this move will make it possible for people to Gucci products using different cryptocurrency including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Wrapped Bitcoin, Litecoin, Shiba Inu, Dogecoin, and five stable coins pegged to the US dollar.
