Kanye West Is Clear: No NFTs, At Least For Now

Kanye West took to Instagram the other day to make his stance on NFTs known. The post is short and simple:

“My focus is on building real products in the real world, real food, real clothes, real shelter, do not ask me to do a f***ing NFT.” We can imagine that this was borne out of hundreds of offers he has received to collaborate or mint an NFT collection. Given the hype and the money flowing behind the metaverse, this is understandable.

The comments on the post are mostly voices of support, with fans asking for his newest album Donda 2 to release already. Some, meanwhile, are backing his claim, mentioning that physical assets will always rank over digital ones in terms of importance. These comments are met with NFT investors arguing that digital assets can be life-changing as well especially for those who know what they’re doing.

Kanye ends his post on NFTs with an interesting phrase, though. “Ask me later.” This likely means that Ye is not factoring out the possibility of getting into NFTs, but is just not interested enough at the moment.

Considering the world’s biggest companies are getting a slice of the pie such as Adidas and Meta, there is a huge chance that these JPEGs are here to stay. They’ll probably need to gain more utility in the future though, but innovation has always been a deciding factor in the crypto space.
