Million-Dollar Dolce & Gabbana NFTs Come With Real Life Versions

High fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana recently decided to throw their gauntlet into the NFTs space as well. What we got from them were 9 extremely rare pieces composing a collection named the Collezione Genesi. All items managed to fetch an eye-watering total of $5.7 million USD on the marketplace (or 1,885 ETH for those who calculate in crypto).

The collection went live on the UNXD platform, which operates on the Polygon network. One of the pieces was labeled the Glass Suit, which was purchased by e-commerce development firm Boson Protocol for 351 ETH ($1.047 million USD). If this were any other NFT, things would stop once the firm received certification for the JPEG, but shockingly enough this NFT comes with the actual Glass Suit designed by Dolce & Gabbana themselves. It features Swarovski crystals, Murano glass, and a silk base. The purchasing firm sent over a representative to get fitted for the suit – talk about a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Other pieces sold include the Doge Crown, which harked back to the rise of the meme coin, at around $1.3M USD. This was the most expensive piece in the collection, and many users on social media were egging on Tesla and SpaceX CEO to buy it to establish himself as the “King of Crypto.” Both a silver and gold version of the Dress From A Dream went for around $500K USD each as well. Out of the 9 pieces, 5 came with actual pieces of clothing.

In an interview with Luxury London, Dolce & Gabbana had this to say about NFTs: “We think that now, more than ever, we could consider ‘digital’ as a major trend. We truly believe in the importance of the human touch, but it’s also true that now we can explore and take advantage of the wide range of possibilities that online offers. We’ve always looked to the future with positivity, because there’s always something to learn, even from difficulties.”

We’re sure that this won’t be the last NFT release for D&G, and other fashion brands are bound to follow suit. It’s definitely exciting to see the space expand and evolve at such a pace.
